Among CO.T.IR. activities we must remark our scientific and professional training on themes concerning agriculture, soil management, hydric resource rational use, data monitoring and its innovative techniques use management.

Between 1998 and 2002 we organized and carried out the following training courses:

Thematic studies on biologic and eco-compatible agriculture (POM Abruzzo 1994/96 misura 3.2 – A.R.S.S.A.) composed by four parts.

1. Instruments and cartographic management for soil representation, with particular reference to eco-compatible yields.

The themes considered in this course concerned remote sensing principles, digital images analysis, images elaboration, visual images interpretation, high quality data production, data quality precision and control, GIS introduction, etc.

2. Animal sustainable breeding: problems and conservative techniques.

SWe dealth with themes concerning the problems linked to pollution and nutritious substances within intensive breeding, we dealth with 2078/92 reg., with conservative breeding techniques and conservative agronomic techniques to produce fodder.

3. Sustainable vegetal yields: agri-environmental problems and conservative techniques.

We dealth with themes such as soil erosion, agricultural and food products quality, energetic consumption, reg. 2078/92 production disciplinary regulations, soil management in eco-compatible agriculture, fertilization, weeding and antiparasitic defence.

4. Statistic elaboration applied to experimentation and production within eco-compatible agriculture.

The themes considered concerned experimental data treatment, variance analysis and experimental drawing, regression analysis, multivaried analysis.

Ø Basic technician for eco-compatible production-process (corso n.34 - tip. 3.1.2 - approvato con O.D. n°196/F del 29/11/1999- Regione Abruzzo), carried out in collaboration with CNOS/FAP Abruzzo Region in Vasto. Aim of this course was to train a professional figure able to research and propose to farmers the best technical solutions concerning technical means, care and prevention systems, and agricultural techniques based on eco-compatible principles.

Ø “Quality technician in agricultural and food area” (corso n.61 - Tip. 3.2.3 B - approvato con Delibera della GR n. 2883 del 31/12/99 - Regione Abruzzo )

This course was aimed to train personnel to be included as quality expert in agricultural and food area.

Ø International course on Conservation Agriculture ( in collaboration with F.A.O. 19 May 25 June 2002 )

This course was organized for technicians coming from northern Africa Countries and its aim was to introduce soil tillage, fertilization, and irrigation updated techniques considering Conservation Agriculture wide context.

Ø Organization and Quality Innovation ( Determinazione dirigenziale DL 3/278/FR – prot. N. 17466/FR del 04/07/2001)

This non-stop training course was aimed to train COTIR personnel on a new theme: UNI EN ISO 9001:2000 certification.

We also carried out two training apprenticeships for the 4th year students of Istituto Agrario Statale “C.Ridolfi” in Scerni.

Ø Agronomic practices and environment safeguard

During this course we dealth with: soil correct management, water-soil interactions, soil erosion evaluation methods and irrigation general aspects; after these activites we carried out practical activities such as atomizers calibration demonstration, experimental device setting up to control irrigation uniformity level. We also visited other research Centers such as ISC (Istituto sperimentale per la cerealicoltura di Foggia) and CERMIS in Tolentino. We also visited some biologic farms in Vasto surroundings.

Ø Analysis and rural soil monitoring instruments

In this course we dealth with G.I.S. and synthesis thematic cartographies, in particular data models, GIS themes and geographic editing, data import and export, altimetric and orographic data, tridimensional models, the thematic maps of the studied farm and erosion synthesis maps.
